Health Insurance Premium Rebates

Minnesota has a new 25% premium rebate for some people who get individual health coverage. To qualify, you must:

• Get individual health insurance coverage, and
• Not be enrolled in MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance (MA), and
• Not get the advanced premium tax credit (APTC tax subsidies) that help pay for your insurance.

It doesn’t matter if you get your insurance through MNsure or elsewhere, as long as it is a 2017 individual plan.

If you qualify, starting in May, when you are sent your monthly bill or invoice for your insurance, your premium will be 25% lower than it would have been without the rebate. That means you pay 25% less for your insurance premium.
