MA-EPD Premium Rules Changes

September 17, 2015

Some MA-EPD rules related to the premium are changing.

Starting September 1, 2015:

  • The minimum MA-EPD sliding fee premium has been lowered to $35 per month.
  • The Unearned Income Obligation went down from 5% of all unearned income to 0.5%. That means that if you have unearned income, like Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, the amount you have to pay for MA-EPD will go down.

Starting October 1, 2015:

  • The premium due date changes from the 15th to the 4th of each month. If the premium payment is not received by the due date, MA-EPD will close.
  • If something happens that is out of your control and you can’t pay your premium, you can request “good cause” to have your premium stopped for a short time.
  • There will no longer be a good cause policy for past due premiums because MA-EPD will be closed if the premium is not paid.
